Texas Corn Producers Association (TCPA) President Joe Reed, a farmer from Kress, Texas, issued the following in response to President Donald Trump issuing a directive for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to allow year-round sales of gasoline with ethanol blends up to 15 percent (E15):
“President Trump has set in motion a pathway to remove outdated restrictions on renewable fuels to allow consumers year-round access to a cleaner-burning, more affordable fuel.
E15 availability at the pump gives consumers another fuel option that has greater environmental benefits and is often cheaper than regular gasoline that is largely a 10 percent blend of ethanol.
Texas corn farmers appreciate the President following through on his commitment to America’s farmers. As farm income continues to decline, efforts such as this expands the domestic market for farmers and helps support commodity prices. Ultimately, this is timely support for the state’s corn farmers and the greater U.S. economy that relies on a strong agricultural backbone.
Texas Corn Producers thanks the President for taking this latest step in relieving unnecessary regulations on a key domestic market for our farmers. We look forward to continue working to expand markets for corn farmers whether through wider domestic ethanol availability, increased demand for livestock feed, or growing export markets.”Download Press Release
